No. You operate as a self-employed independent contractor.
Think of it like being your own boss, similar to driving with rideshare platforms: you choose your own schedule and select client opportunities that fit your lifestyle. Hours are typically picked in flexible 30-minute intervals, giving you the absolute freedom to build a part-time side schedule or stack your intervals to secure steady, full-time income.
-
Because you operate as an independent contractor and micro-business owner, certification courses for specific client programs are independently completed prior to servicing. While training sessions are unpaid, they represent a direct investment into your own business.
Once certification is successfully completed, you immediately unlock the ability to select your hours, service the client program, and begin earning revenue.
-
We seek professionals who demonstrate excellence, reliability, and the drive to operate their own business. To partner with Opulence Communications, you must meet the following baseline requirements:
Bilingual Proficiency: Full professional fluency in both French and English (written and verbal).
Assessment Completion: Successful completion of the portal readiness assessment. This is a mandatory step that verifies your technical environment and skill set, effectively "unlocking" your access to available client programs.
Technical Readiness: You must meet our minimum system requirements (please see the [Technical Prerequisites] section below).
Background Check: Successful completion of a criminal background check, conducted by a trusted third-party service.
Autonomy: A commitment to maintaining your own professional workspace, secure internet service, and the high standards expected of an independent business owner.
-
Our onboarding process is designed to ensure you are fully prepared for success. While the timeline depends on how quickly you complete each stage, it typically follows this path:
Application & Registration: After you submit your intake form, you will receive an email inviting you to register within our portal. While you register, our team reviews your initial application.
Documentation & Approval: Once your application is reviewed, we will email you the necessary contractor agreements. You may be asked to sign a secondary document within the portal. Once our team approves these final documents, your partnership is officially "active."
The Readiness Assessment: With your partnership active, you will complete a mandatory readiness assessment within the portal. This step verifies your technical environment and is the "key" that unlocks the ability to view all available client programs, pay rates, and job details.
Program Selection & Certification: Once you choose an opportunity, you will finalize your identity verification (via government-issued ID) and complete a standard background check (a one-time third-party cost of approximately $30). Finally, you will complete the specific certification course for your chosen client program.
From start to finish, most partners are ready to begin servicing their first client program within 2–4 weeks.
-
To gain full access to our job board and client opportunities, every agent must complete a standardized readiness assessment within the portal. This process is designed to ensure you have the skills and system environment necessary to succeed. Successfully passing this assessment is the final step required to "unlock" the ability to view current client programs, pay rates, and training schedules. We recommend completing this as soon as you receive your portal access to minimize wait times.

The readiness assessment is your first step toward unlocking client opportunities. It is designed to verify your customer service aptitude and ensure your home office is technically prepared.
Here are a few tips to ensure you are ready:
The Content: The assessment focuses on standard customer service scenarios, situational judgment, and problem-solving. It is designed to evaluate how you handle professional communication.
Time Commitment: Please set aside 30–45 minutes of uninterrupted time. Do not rush; ensure you are in a clear headspace to provide your best responses.
Environment: Complete the assessment in a quiet, distraction-free environment. You will need to focus, as some portions of the assessment may involve audio or voice-based elements.
Technical Setup: Ensure your environment is fully prepared before you begin. It is highly recommended to be using a hard-wired (Ethernet) internet connection. Wi-Fi alone is not recommended and may cause connectivity issues during the assessment.
Preparation: Run a speed test on your connection beforehand and verify that your headset and/or laptop microphone are clear and functioning correctly.

-
Speed Test Verification: Prior to starting your shift, commencing training or taking any assessments please run a speed check via Speedtest.net to verify that your connection consistently meets or exceeds the minimum 10 Mbps download / 3 Mbps upload threshold.
-
Confirm that your workstation is directly plugged into your router or modem via an Ethernet cable, and verify that Wi-Fi adapters are completely disabled to prevent accidental wireless routing. If you are unable to connect via Ethernet, a wifi extender is a great alternative.
-
Microphone Check: Conduct a brief sound recording test using your operating system's built-in voice recorder or testing utility to ensure your USB headset microphone is clear, free of static, and operating at an optimal volume level.
Audio Output Settings: Verify that your USB headset is selected as the default playback and recording device in your sound settings, bypassing any built-in laptop speakers or auxiliary microphones.
